"You're the real thing . . . by Steven Panovich

Paul was my thesis advisor and a dear, great friend. I'll never forget the one time at the Cafe Loup, after talking about Longfellow's sonnet structure, he said to me, "You're the real thing, Panovich." It was all the validation I ever needed in being a poet: Paul's word.
