My heart so goes out to you and your family, Laura. She was beautiful.

Best,
MaryCH

Laura has so much soul to give that she had 4 dogs with true inner lives.True interior lives. She made it that way. And now she has three dogs who follow her through the house sharing the grief...But because Holly belonged to Laura she knew the dignity of being treated with respect and love every day. What a wonderful life for any of us if this exists...Dog, woman, child. How many are given this? Every day! And when the creature of love went away,Laura will always know she gave everything.I want everyone to go away from me carrying that much with them. Good Mary Oliver brings us beyond the silence of death with her poetry..but who can look at this picture of Holly and find any poem enough? The pines..where Oliver speaks...the pines where Holly sleeps. I guess poets talk to each other, and that's all we can do.

Laura: I'm so sorry for this loss--and for this difficult day and the days to follow.

Oh Laura, I'm so sorry about Holly. She looks like such a sweet dog. This is very sad.

Laura, let me add my condolences. Take care of yourselves in these days.

Thank you, everyone. It helps to have your thoughts and words. She was a sweet, wonderful dog. We are grateful to have had her as part of our lives for nine years. And I am grateful for all of you.

So hard....so damn hard.

"We stumble up---we stumble on."
