All this hoo-ha about print culture and/or poetry being in decline... Well, I see - get this! - actual regular people reading poetry... in public places! Some of these real-life readers are toting books they have (you won't believe this) purchased, supporting bookstores and living breathing poets not to mention publishers; others cradle books checked out from public libraries - which still apparently acquire volumes of contemporary poetry for the enjoyment and enlightenment of their patrons.
To celebrate this counterintuitive phenomenon, I would like to institute an occasional National Poetry Month quiz:
Guess Which Contemporary Poet Whose Book I Saw Somebody Read on the Train!
For this inaugural (so to speak) edition, I have provided a clue in the image above.
Good luck. The first person to correctly guess or otherwise intuit the answer will receive... something, I promise! Extra points for guessing not only the poet's name, but the title of the book seen.
