This week we welcome Rachel Barenblat as our guest blogger. Rachel is a student in the ALEPH rabbinic program (though not for much longer; she will be ordained a rabbi in January of 2011) and holds an MFA from the Bennington Writing Seminars. Author of four chapbooks of poems (among them chaplainbook, a collection of hospital chaplaincy poems, Laupe House Press 2006, and Through, a self-published collection of miscarriage poems, 2009) she looks forward to the publication of her first book-length collection in 2011. Her poems have appeared in a variety of magazines and anthologies. Since 2003 she's been blogging as The Velveteen Rabbi. She is a contributing editor at Zeek: A Jewish Journal of Thought and Culture, though hasn't contributed much of late, thanks to the newest addition to her family, young master Drew Zuckerman, who was born last November.
Welcome, Rachel.
