Charles Simic will receive the Frost Medal from the Poetry Society of America at their awards ceremony on Tuesday, April 19 (at PSA headquarters in the National Arts Club at 7 PM). Previous Frost medalists include Wallace Stevens, Gwendolyn Brooks, Allen Ginsberg, Marianne Moore, and Lucille Clifton, who was the 2010 Centennial recipient. Congratulations to Mr. Simic and to winners of all the various prizes that will be presented that evening. The photo on the right is from October 1992; Under the auspices of the Academy of American Poets, Simic -- as guest editor of The Best American Poetry 1992 -- and David Lehman hosted a reading featuring four contributors to that volume. If memory serves, the four readers that evening were Jonathan Aaron, Billy Collins, Lynda Hull, and Rosanna Warren, and it took place at the Alliance Francaiseon East 60th Street. -- DL
