Several weeks ago, Emma Trelles and I agreed to read The Odyssey together. Our goal is to finish in eight weeks but since Emma lives in Florida and I in New York, we can't meet regularly to talk about what we've read. Nonetheless, we're pressing on. The Odyssey comprises twenty-four books; we're reading three books per week and will each post about our progress here. On David Lehman's recommendation we're reading the Robert Fitzgerald translation, which is widely available either new or used.
