The video below is making the rounds on Facebook, occasioned by the news that Natasha Tretheway has just been named poet laureate of Mississippi. Read about the appointment here. David and I met Natasha back in 2007, just after she was awarded the Pulitzer prize, and we had the good fortune to spend a few days with her last fall during the Atlanta book festival. Five guest editors have singled out Natasha's poems for inclusion in volumes of the Best American Poetry (Kevin Young, David Wagoner, Charles Wright, Yousef Komunyakaa, and Rita Dove). Congratulations to Natasha for this most recent recognition of her fine work.
