
Writing coach, editor, and entrepreneur Victoria Rowan writes to tell us that she has a few seats available for tomorrow evening's summit of four of New York City's most prominent literary experts.
With
space for book reviews shrinking in the traditional press and with the
enormous expansion of new multimedia platforms, blogs, and commerce site
consumer reviews, there are now more headaches and more opportunity than
ever before for authors and reviewer.
Victoria has enlisted these experts talk about how you can navigate this changing landscape:
Liesl Schillinger (above right) is a
literary critic, translator, and regular contributor to The New York
Times Book Review. Her work has appeared in The New York Times, The New
Yorker, The New Republic, The Washington Post, New York Magazine, Vogue,
and many publications here and abroad. Her translation of the German novel, “Every Day, Every Hour,” by Nataša Dragnić, was published in May, 2012 (Viking); her illustrated neologisms book "Wordbirds" comes out in June 2013 (Free Press).
Sam Tanenhaus (above center) is
the Editor in Chief of The New York Times Book Review. He has written
various other publications--New Yorker, New York Review of Books, New
Republic, Newsweek, Vanity Fair--and is currently writing a biography of
William F. Buckley Jr.
Bill Tipper is the Managing Editor of BarnesandNobleReview.com since
its inception five years ago. Prior to writing and editing at B&N,
he earned a PhD in English from NYU and taught at St. John's University.
Meryl Zegarek (above left) is
an expert in the fields of publicity, promotion and book publishing.
She has more than thirty years experience building comprehensive
publicity campaigns in public relations agencies, major New York City
publishing houses, and in broadcasting. Prior
to starting her own firm, Ms. Zegarek served as Director of Publicity
for two divisions of the Knopf Publishing Group, Pantheon & Schocken
Books.
