it was my privilege to work with pam reed --one of the greatest ultra runners -- on her autobiography, published by rodale press. pam is also originally from michigan. she was the overall winner of the 137 mile badwater death valley race two years in a row. she is also a really wonderful person, unbelievably tough but totally without ego as an athlete. she will run with anyone and will always go at whatever pace her partner chooses, slow or fast. i think she may be cutting back on her running now but anyone who is interested in ultra running should definitely try to find out about pam. her book is called 'the extra mile.'
