Oral presentation is so important and so few poets in our day have mastered it. Why, for example, are there poetry readings instead of poetry recitations? I'm as guilty as anyone -- i don't know any of my meager oeuvre by heart, not have i ever tried to study the classical techniques of rhetoric offered by Quintilian and others. Perhaps for that very reason I so admire people who can present with power, and some of my favorites are gospel preachers. For example:
