We were sad to learn that our dear friend, pianist extraordinaire Dick Katz, died on Tuesday at the age of 85.  If you've listened to classic jazz, you've heard Dick Katz at the piano. Over the course of his career, he played with Benny Carter, JJ Johnson & Kai Winding, Roy Eldridge, Coleman Hawkins and scores of others.  He had a long association with singer Helen Merrill.  You can listen to Dick Katz all day today by tuning in to WKCR in New York or wkcr.org.  Read more about Dick Katz here and here.  Our heartfelt condolences to his family. The jazz scene has lost a master.
