Happy birthday to Hoagy Carmichael, who wrote the melodies of "Skylark," "Stardust," "How Little We Know," "Lazy Bones," and "Georgia on My Mind."
You may have seen him in such movies as "To Have or Have Not" and "The Best Years of Our Lives." He won an Academy Award for "In the Cool, Cool, Cool of the Evening," with lyrics by Johnny Mercer.
Carmichael, a graduate of the University of Indiana in Bloomington, died on December 29, 1981, at the age of 82.
Happy birthday, Mr. C.!
