My friend Susan Pattenaude, a senior domestic violence attorney with The Legal Project in Albany, NY writes to tell me about a poetry contest for a good cause. This is near to my heart because I lived in the Capital District for many years and I know about the good works of The Legal Project. It's just the kind of important organizations that faces financial difficulties in these hard times.
Now, you can help the Legal Project win a 2011 Heart and Soul Grant by writing an original 4 to 8 line poem that reflects the Project's mission to provide free and low cost legal services to the working poor, victims of domestic violence, and other under-served individuals in the Capital District of New York State. The deadline is short (March 28!). To fuel your imagination, find out more about The Legal Project here. Find out more about the Heart and Soul grants here.
Send your poems to Lorraine Wynne, associate director of The Legal Project ([email protected]).
