More Mountain Talk
I.
Waking up
one morning, Sunrise
said, ‘Mountain,
must you always be
there sitting alone?
Oh how I am
tired of wasting
away my light on
your familiar angles
and dirt inclination.
Do you not have anywhere
else to be
but here? Forlorn
my shadows are sick
of you. They do not
desire anymore
ascension, but rather,
an open field to run
in and stretch. So,
Mountain, I say to you,
leave this place,
if you can, I do not
appreciate you-
r bigness anymore.’
II.
Sunrise, I am
sorry
that you feel
the ways
that you feel.
Yes, I am big,
because I was born
big. Maybe
it is hard
for you to see,
but Sunrise,
you must know,
that there is
nothing that exists
as big as
you.
