LOVE THIS -- Benebell, this is a great opening to what I think will be a fascinating string of essays. Yeats' mystical side and his interest int he Golden Dawn have been of interest to me for years -- I hadn't ever put it together before with TSE. What fun. And I can't wait to see you read DL!!!

Readers, this woman did a reading on my manuscript (to be posted Friday) and it was freaking spooky. To be clear, she did not read the manuscript - she "read" it. I just gave her the title and she knew my name and birthdate. she got stuff I'll be lucky to get across to people who read the finished product on the page. This is just very, very cool and something i'd never considered as an input to my own work, though I've certainly had tarot readings before and know a bit about this strand of mysticism. I'm psyched and inspired. -- AG

Thanks, Amy. Both Yeats and Eliot fascinated me as poets long before I knew either one of them had any connection to the tarot. Imagine my thrill when I found out we had that in common!

What an amazing thought...Yeats owning a deck of tarot cards. Wonders never cease, and perhaps it's a sign that even the greatest minds of our time believe in divination etc.

This article made me think about how we tend to stereotype people. Who would have thought Yeats was into divination??

Mmmm interesting! Who would have thought Yeats would be interested in something as offbeat as divination...goes to show how easy it is to judge a book by its' cover.

If you ever have time in Dublin it would be of most interest to visit the Yeats Museum where many of his magical influences and implements are prominently displayed.

Sincerely,
Thoth

You have to wonder how closely guarded a secret this was to his main stream credibility. Still waters run deep.
