When those flags were raised, my grandmother was ordered to sew Stars of David on my mother's clothing so the Nazis and Vichy could pick her off the streets. My feisty mother is 85 yrs old and she would call Dyer "un canaille."

Does no one understand the point of the column was to make offensive free speech like Charlie Hebdo did?

Jim, the purpose of the column was plain enough: to be deliberately offensive. The point is that our protests are strictly verbal and unaccompanied by threats. This, too, the writer anticipated. It takes little courage to write as he did when knowing that no fatwa on his scalp would result. It's a cheap shot. -- DL
