Radio
I left it
on when I
left the house
for the pleasure
of coming back
ten hours later
to the greatness
of Teddy Wilson
"After You've Gone"
on the piano
in the corner
of the bedroom
as I enter
in the dark
from New and Selected Poems by David Lehman
To rhyme Defoe with so-so
is not as
or maybe even more so
than Kim Novak in Vertigo
who played Moll Flanders
a decade later
of whom it may be said
(as it may also be said
of Robert Taylor)
that if you look like
one of these two
that's all you have to do.
