On her birthday -- D-Day -- I'd like to praise Dolores Gray, who is dynamite in that underrated classic "It's Always Fair Weather," in which she sings "Thanks a Lot (But No Thanks)" (lyrics by Betty Comden and Adolph Green). She knocks it out of the park.
I'd like to serenade Dolores and what better way to do it than with a tune? The male vocalist is supported by the Pied Pipers (including Jo Stafford) and the Tommy Dorsey band. 1941. The lyrics were written by Frank Loesser. -- DL
