Armistice Day, November 11, 1918, ended the first world war, leaving everyone relieved and no one the happier. The illusion of peace, and the reality of disillusion, lasted nearly twenty-one years. The United States entered the second global conflict on a day that shall live in infamy, the seventh day of December 1941.
This post is for all who, like Stacey's father, were awarded the purple heart for their service in World War II.
