« Happy birthday, Robert Frost | Main | La Biennale de danse du Val de Marne: “Célébration, transmission, imagination” + energy in creativity and happening [By Tracy Danison] »

March 28, 2023

Amazing! The details and background and visuals provide such a rich intertwining story.

Dear Alan,
What an extraordinary, coincidental find! A college friend of mine with whom I am still in touch and was talking with today told me he had gotten this from Harold Hodes, a childhood friend of his in Brooklyn who was in graduate school with me and has been teaching at Cornell ever since. Did/do you know Harold? And you know pretty much how my life has gone -- you have images of almost all of my books, including one that just came out. And thanks for the story about my other and the Book Review. I still turn to it first on Sunday morning, though it is a pale shadow of its former self. I do remember the 3 AM train ride. How has your life gone since?

If I have't previously expressed my delight --and my thanks for the photos -- let me do so now, Alan. And to Paul Guyer: I knew Harold Hodes in college. He taught at Cornell and he and his family lived in Ithaca until. . .when exactly?A couple of decades ago? We were neighbors. How nice to invoke the man's spirit in this space!
