Glad to be back in the desert
After all the wasted years;
The javelinas of the 1950s
Are gone now of course
But new ones have arrived
and they still need water only
A few times during the year;
The big saguaro cacti can be
Two hundred years old and
When a beautiful young king snake
Went looking for a place to hide
I knew exactly how it felt although
I'm not quite eighty yet. Look!
There's a female tarantula.
Mitch ought to be the Arizona State Poet!
