Maurice Wohlgelertner was a colleague of mine at Baruch College, where he was known as Professor W. He taught a range of novels, always seeking the new. His standards were high. As a young instructor I was terrified to learn he was to observe my class, and indeed he grouched some, but then taught me how to teach. His praise was rare, but excited. He was Diogenes, looking for excellence. I'll miss him. Thanks for your tribute. Grace Schulman, Distinguished Professor Emerita, Baruch College, C.U.N.Y.

Thank you for this wonderful comment about a man who inspired me when I was young.
